In
the words of his commanding officer, "Uday
was a hero to every soldier in his Company for
going into battle every day especially after being
wounded. Uday fought hard for his band of brothers."The
Sgt. Uday Singh Memorial Foundation has been set
up to perpetuate his memory by
1) giving a grant to the family of officers and
soldiers of Charlie Company 1st Battalion 34 Armor
Regiment, who make the ultimate sacrifice in actual
combat during hostile operations.
2) providing a yearly sum to the Company's Family
Support Group for the welfare of families of soldiers.
3) giving two scholarships every year to deserving
students of the senior class of Uday's High School
in India. Also providing financial assistance
for educationg two children of the underpriviledged
class in the same school.
4) setting up a permanent memorial in Lake Forest,
Illinois and providing maintenance funds for the
same.
5) The Foundation envisions, in future years,
of facilitating a student exchange program between
a high school in USA and Uday's school in India.

(c)(3) of the US Internal Revenue
Code and will operate exclusively for charitable, educational,
religious, patriotic and civic purposes in the memory
of and for the Honor of U S Army Sgt Uday Singh, who gave his
life for his country on December 1, 2003, while serving
in Iraq. | |
